Travel Day Saturday 20 Sept: Dover to Calais

In transit for most of today, the highlight being views of the White Cliffs of Dover.

Waiting for the ferry at Dover Passenger Terminal. There were only about 25 foot passengers in total but a lot more cars, camper vans and trucks/lorries
With Scott & Emily who are hitchhiking for charity to raise funds for the Travers Foundation, a volunteer run Charity that provides funding and financial support to 13 to 30 year-olds to help them improve their skills in sport, music and arts.
You can learn more on their Instagram page here. Well done guys👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

We’re on a P&O ferry, heading the other way
Gary & Lynn have been whinging endlessly since we were hiking in Italy about missing out on an icecream on a ferry (that never eventuated in 2023!) Finally, today, they got one!! I doubt it will stop the whining!
Note the empty seats… the volume of ferry traffic has drastically declined since the opening of the Chunnel. It certainly wasn’t a busy ferry.
France emerging on the horizon
Approaching Calais
Calais Terminal
A sign outside the terminal near where we caught the shuttle bus into the city.
Ever the hero… this lady couldn’t reach the handrail so Hans offered her his arm 💕
In our AirBnB, wine & cheese (after Lynn & I shopped)
Delicious butter with sea salt crystals in it… 😋
Our first AirBnB self-catered dinner
Baked chicken with potatoes, carrots & broccoli. Mighty tasty fare!
