Stage 13 Thursday 2 Oct: Arras to Hamelincourt (14km/8.7m)
Technically today was scheduled as a rest day but we decided to take some distance off the longer days coming up by walking a short day today, then treating ourselves to a steak lunch at a local restaurant. Lynn and I then further treated ourselves to a girls’ only coffee and cake.
The guidebook describes the landscape over coming days once out if the Arras urban areas as flat and advised that “fields now come in three sizes: vast, vaster and vastest.”
We started at Hamelincourt and walked back to Arras (ie backwards) for logistical purposes… (related to car parking!!! 🤨 no, I’m not over that grievance yet!)
