Wednesday 22 October: Casablanca!

It feels unreal but we’re in Casablanca! We’ve been talking about this trip for so long and now we’re here! Well nearly all of us… Lynn and I arrived this morning. Beth (my daughter) arrived late this afternoon. Loie arrived early this evening and the other Beth will get here on Friday.

The drive in with Salvadour… took about 5years off my life expectancy!

The hotel is quirky, a bit tired but fabulous… so much character… right down to the concierge who greeted Beth (and me) with a hot sweet tea and local biscuit. (Lynn missed out!)

Lynn and I headed out to find some lunch… we missed the place the hotel receptionist had recommended and ended up in a part of town with a whole bunch of cafes we didn’t feel comfortable about… so we went to McDonalds … the safe refuge for all westerners! But on the way home we found our restaurant and can’t wait to share it with the others at dinner tonight.

Our first meal in Morocco… it’s only up from here!
Chocolate Banana crepes at Restaurant Les Fleurs (we had to check the quality…)

Beth arrived late this afternoon. After a quick freshen up it was off to the rooftop bar at the Royal Mansour Hotel (23rd floor) for a celebratory cocktail.
