Monday 3 November: Marrakech

The last day of our tour today and we spent the morning Amal, a nonprofit organisation that combines a training program for women who want to become chefs, with a popular restaurant and catering service.

We spent the morning making a range of traditional salads (cooked and uncooked) under the instruction of one of their most experienced chefs, and despite no common language (other than food), we came out with some delicious results.

There were other people in the class making a range of tajines… they also got delicious results. They had a number of GoPros filming everything, so we’re probably all on the web somewhere! We all shared our dishes for a buffet lunch.

After lunch we all headed back to the medina to finish off our shopping, then home for a rest before walking to Le Barometre for our farewell dinner.

It will be sad to leave everyone, but after over seven weeks away I’m ready to head home. Morocco has been amazing, I am so pleased we did this trip and so glad we had the group we had.

The cocktails were great… all with twists on classics or innovative signatures of Le Barometre

Beth’s (Butt) gintonica with herb infused gin
Negroni classic (mine)… no twist, just very, very good
Sarah’s cocktail based on date infused whiskey
Beth’s (complementary) bucket of wine!
Beth’s “Apothecary”(?) with geranium
Lala chicken and ginger cigars
Moroccan cooked salads
Calamari with Moroccan peppers (tatouka)
Burrata, tomato and basil
5am Moroccan sandwiches and beef chimmichurri tataki (behind)
Beetroot hummus
Can’t remember but it was tasty.

The perfect end to a fabulous trip.
