Friday 16 October Arzua to A Rua (17.86 km/11.1 mi)

This is getting monotonous I know but it was another glorious day, perfect weather (bordering on too hot), fabulous scenery (still better than I remember) and still very busy with lots of high school kids… the same ones we’ve encountered from about Portomarin. We arrived in A Rua at about 1pm in time for a delicious menu del dia for just €15!

A very sad looking coffee in our room…
Needed real coffee and not happy with her cafe con leche (flat white)… ordered an Americano (long black). I was very happy with my gooey Arzua cheese and ham toastie!
Into the fray for the penultimate time
Misty breaths at milking time
That’s the sun, not a light globe
At the beer bottle bar (first seen in 2014)
King/Queen of all they survey
Love these slab stone fences
A fully laden apple tree (unfortunately out of reach)
On guard
We met the “Camino dog” today … Kippy with her human, Martha. They started in Sarria too.
A very Hans style wood pile… with maize on the side
Into the eucalypts
With the delightful Sarah and Aaron, and their trail-side stall of Sarah’s handmade gifts just as you enter A Rua. The first souvenirs bought on the trip and we learnt that Aaron is originally from New Zealand.
Into O Acrivo and a hot(ish) shower followed by lunch… scrambled eggs with mushrooms and garlic (very yummy)
Roast chicken and chips… also delicious. Dessert followed and we split a tiramisu and a blueberry cheesecake (neither homemade, but still tasty)
Just outside our room… should have packed the bathers!
