Stage 18 Wednesday 8 Oct: Tergnier to Saint-Nicolas-aux-Bois (20km/12.5m)

A more interesting walk today… along the St Quentin canal east from Tergnier for about 5km, then through some towns with people and open shops, up a small hill into fields of sugar beets and potatoes for a while… then a forest, a lake and a big hill (up and down) to finish.

Route direction ➡️; Our direction ➡️

The big hill
A cave just over the summit… huge inside

We headed back to pick up the car from Tergnier and then shopped for dinner. A different route home tonight for Lynn and me…

Coucy Castle in Coucy la Ville

Coucy Castle is the legacy of the Enguerrand dynasty, commonly known as the “Lords of Coucy”, who ruled the fortress from the 11th to the 14th century.

A tight squeeze through this passage in Anizy le Chateau
Spotted by the boys on their way home
More of our backyard this evening… herb gardens
A copper pot in the boot room that Lynn is lusting over
Creamy mushroom pasta & salad for dinner, then chocolate mousse for dessert
