Tuesday 13 October Portomarin to Palas de Rei (24 km/15m)

A fun day today, walking with Charity. We got a lift back into town to rejoin the Camino, then headed off in the river of pilgrims. A long day today made more difficult by the high temperature and very high humidity.

Into the throng
Up a hill that was much steeper than it appears here. Check out the guy ahead of Beth!
Grey clouds kept the morning cooler but sticky
Isn’t she beautiful?
First morning tea at Bar Riquel, about 8kms in
More steep, tricky rocks
2nd break at about 16km
Excited to discover she has flaps!
Refreshments in Palas de Rei… very large, icy cold beers
Accompanied by tostadas with goats cheese, walnuts and honey and with prosciutto, Brie and tomato jam
Our hotel, Casa Leopoldo
Dinner – delicious swordfish and grilled vegetables
Pork knuckle and salad (it tasted much better than it looks)
